About Creator and President Heidi Glatfelter

Heidi is a marketing and communications professional with over twelve years of experience with a variety of non-profits, including the prestigious Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation. She has created and managed marketing and branding campaigns for these organizations and many others, utilizing an array of print, online, and fundraising strategies. Her hands-on experience has taught her how to get the greatest return on the smallest investment.

Heidi founded Market Early America in 2007 as a way to use her marketing know-how with her love of American history and preservation. She has worked with a variety of history organizations to implement strategic marketing policies without breaking their budgets.

In the past few years, Heidi has also developed a specialization in managing associations – groups of museums and/or businesses who ban together for a common cause. She works as the Director of both the Greater Baltimore History Alliance and the Fort McHenry Business Association. She has helped both of these organizations update their websites, streamline their communications, and increase member participation.

Additionally, Heidi is working on the implementation of a $100,000+ grant with the Heritage Museums of Havre de Grace; a digital device to help with the interpretation of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 in Baltimore City; and several smaller projects with the Reginald F. Lewis Maryland Museum of African American History and Culture and the Irish Railroad Workers Museum.

She also serves as the technology chair for the Association of Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums and is a frequent speaker on web and social media topics at conferences around the country. She has also volunteered at Homewood House Museum and Historic Jerusalem Mill Village.

Heidi loves working with history museums, small local businesses, and associations, helping them to refine their marketing and communications strategies in order to achieve their long-term goals in growth and sustainability. She can work with you, too, to develop and implement an integrated plan that will sustain your organization into the future.

What Makes Us Different

Unlike many agencies operating today, Heidi’s main goal for her company is not profit-based; instead, it is to do her part to help sustain history organizations for future generations of Americans to explore. She operates the company on her own, hiring freelancers only as necessary to assist on various projects. In addition, she has years of experience completing projects on small budgets and is familiar with a variety of low-cost or no-cost solutions she can implement for your organization. As such, she is able to charge reasonable prices for her services that museums and small businesses can afford. She also strives to implement systems (such as content management systems and templates) that allow staff members to continue using her solutions long after her involvement with the project has ended.
